Update: So I’ve been living here a little over 2 years and I can honestly say, this complex has one of the most responsive, professional, and caring maintenance teams I’ve ever encountered. Glenn and Jon, who work in maintenance are amazing! They actually take the time to get to know their residents, and are very attentive. They have always responded promptly to any service request, and have even gone over and beyond to address certain things with great suggestions. They literally treat you like family, and make you feel safe. Thank you both so much for continuing to make this an enjoyable experience for me and my pup! My entire move-in experience has been so smooth and stress free thanks to leasing staff Annette and her team. Communication has been A1 with Annette! I lived at Cortland for 11 months and would recommend it to professionals, grad students (if budget allows), or anyone wanting a premium renting experience without paying extra for unnecessary amenities. Cortland does the basics well, and I felt I was getting good value for downtown Durham. I have moved out at the end of my lease, but wouldn't have minded renewing. Pros: (1) Office and maintenance staff were great—professional, responsive, and available on Saturdays. (2) Tours and leasing hours (open until 6 p.m. on weekdays) were very convenient for a 9–5 professional. (3) Package setup with Luxer One was much better than services like Fetch. (4)The apartment itself felt solid: quartz counters, high ceilings, and a downtown location near the Bulls stadium. (5) I never had pest issues, late-night false fire alarms, or noise problems (walls were soundproof; only heard occasional hallway noise). It was an amazing 2 years living here! The price is very hard to beat for unit sizes, location, and quality. Parking being free during my time was a major plus. Staff were all incredible, especially the maintenance team who always responded to requests incredibly quickly, even after hours. If you’re looking in downtown Durham, you’re not going to find a building with this good of prices (for the area + quality) and this good of leasing and maintenance staff teams.

We recently moved into the building and couldn’t be happier. Nat did an amazing job helping us find the perfect unit. He was responsive and knowledge about every detail. He went above and beyond. The amenities are great and everything is clean. Maintenance is so quick. We had a minor issue and they came the same day! It’s so close to everything. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops a street away. Everything else seems to be within 10-20 minute walk. Restaurants, breweries, DPAC, parks, and bars.

Cortland Bull City has become "home!" I moved from D.C. to Durham, NC, in order to attend school. Hesitant initially, as it was my 1st time living away from my family. However, Megan went above and beyond as I acclimated to life in Durham. Her friendly face and kind demeanor put my family and I's minds at ease when it came time to say goodbye. I have now lived here over a year and couldn't be happier -- with my apartment, the amenities, or the staff, especially Megan, who continues to go out of her way time and time again to ensure each and every resident's satisfaction, addressing inquires in a timely manner! Cortland Bull City wouldn't be "home" without her, that's certain!

We are a couple with an emotional service dog moving to Durham from out of the state. We really appreciated the amazing customer service from Tyquez, Megan and others in the office. The ONLY reason we couldn't sign a lease at the end of the day is because another complex within walking distance of my work and needs had a unit open up. I was really sad because the customer service and the luxury feel of the apartments at cortland was so tempting. Since me and my partner share a car, being able to walk to work would help out a lot. The customer service at the place we ended up is horrible compared to here, but again the only reason we didn't go here is due to the location. We are super bummed but once we get settled in and figure out the bus systems after our initial lease, we want to come back to Cortland. Thanks to the leasing office for the top-notch team and beautiful apartments, we are so grateful to you!

I had the nicest time living in Cortland for a coupe years with my spouse and dog. Their location close to the American Tobacco Campus is the best! I always felt like I was losing something when we left this community. You can't ask for better management team than this. Whenever we had a problem or a question, Megan was always there to help. Glen, the maintenance manager, was excellent; if there was ever a problem with our apartment or appliances, one member of his team would be in no more than 30 minutes to fix it. Maybe it's because of their tremendous dog love that we feel more at home here! Every day, our dog had to stop by the leasing office to greet the whole staff, and they all gave her the treatment of a celebrity.

CBC has the best community-centric team! From the leasing office to the maintenance teams, everyone is friendly, responsive, and helpful. The building amenities are also incredible. The pool gets extensive sunlight between the months of March and October and is a great way to relax after work or on the weekends. 11/10 recommend Cortland Bull City (CBC) if you're moving to Durham.

ive been living here since august 10th, and have never felt more at home. i live alone in an apartment for the first time, and knew that it would take adjusting. everyone in the leasing office has made me feel completely and utterly safe and at peace. theyre truly a family. you can tell how much effort they put into the complex, and how much pride they take in this specific cortland. they represent the company incredibly. Gregory is the definition of excellence, you can tell he has been in the industry a long time. he knows exactly what hes doing, he has set an unbelievable standard for himself and this complex. he works harder than anyone, and has lended a hand whenever ive asked, will always be there for you, and ensures that you have the best experience possible. after all, this is everyone who lives here’s home. he has the most welcoming smile and best laugh, its hard not to feel connected to him and everyone in the office. im appreciative of everything theyve done for me thus far.

This community seems great the amenities are nice and its proximity to downtown means most of what you need is within walking distance. The community is always clean and has a very nice smell unlike most hotel style apartment complexes. The staff is super friendly and always seem willing to help. The only warning I have is half of the EV chargers are broken not an issue for most people but if you own an EV and rely on home charging it is definitely something to look into

Cortland Bull City is one of the best apartment complexes in downtown Durham! We have lived here for short 4 months now and sadly me and my wife Emely had to leave due to a job transfer case in St Louis. We had a great time here and especially the management here is absolutely great. We had a nice experience the day we moved in. I would like to mention about Leasing Consultant- Gregory Randall who helped us through while we moved in and whenever we go for any questions to him he always greet with a smile and help us in all possible ways. Aside from the top-notch staff here, the apartments are beautiful and the amenities are always clean. We have not had any major issues and pest control is not a problem here.I couldn't recommend Cortland enough for a beautiful place to live Downtown where your feedback is valued as a tenant- from Soumitra and Emely.

I've lived in this apartment complex for about a year now and overall it's been great. The office and maintenance staffs are very friendly, work requests are resolved promptly, and the quality of my apartment overall has been great. Unspecific to this apartment, Cortland lets you relocate to another Cortland property for free so I don’t have to worry about relocating based on a lease. Edit 10/19/2023: After the summer car break-ins, Cortland hired a private security company to patrol at night, sent out notices about some resident-caused security concerns, and the north garage door is working again.

Cortland Bull City is one of the best apartment complexes in downtown Durham! We have lived here for 2 years now, and it has been a wonderful experience. Particularly, the management is unparalleled. Megan, from the leasing office, and Glen the maintenance manager, have been incredible since the day we moved in. They are friendly, genuinely care about their tenants, and very responsive. Anytime they see me walking with my dog, they stop to pet her and ask how we are doing. Aside from the top-notch staff here, the apartments are beautiful, and the amenities are always clean. We have not had any major issues with either of the 2 units we have lived in; and pest control is not a problem here. They recently hired security to be present in the parking garage at night, which has been a nice addition. Overall, the complex is an easy walk to restaurants and the tobacco trail. I couldn't recommend Cortland enough for a beautiful place to live Downtown where your feedback is valued as a tenant.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with Cortland! One of the nicest things has been that when we’ve placed a maintenance request, the maintenance team comes by that same day! They even help with things like replacing the water filter in the fridge and unclogging the shower drains. I always feel very safe here which is important for me.

I have really enjoyed my time at cortland apartments so far. I love having quiet study areas, a swimming pool, grill, gym, and fire pit. The office personnel are very quick to respond anytime I need something done in my apartment. I also love that there's a little dog park for my dogs to socialize with the other dogs around. From start to finish, and end to end, the staff at the leasing office provided answers to my every inquiry and was able to anticipate what I would need ahead of time. At first, I was not sure if the property would be right for me. After the wonderful tour, I was sold on the location, with its picturesque views. We have been living at Union Wharf for about two months now. We love the location, with so many things within walking distance. Our apartment is spacious and has lovely views of both the pool and the bay. The amenities are really excellent, though we wish the pool was open later at night so we could make more use of it when we come home from work, and longer in the season - the weather is still going to be quite warm in September! The management has been great about communicating when something isn't working or when a schedule changes, which we really appreciate because it was lacking in our last apartment. Overall, we are happy here - thanks for a great experience!

The leasing office staff and maintenance staff are great. Everyone here is very friendly! The amenities and apartment location is also ideal for my family since everything is only 5 - 15 minutes away. Only downside to this complex, is that since it's a new build apartment, there will be some construction of your unit that still needs fixing. I don't blame the leasing or maintenance staff for this though, I believe it might be the construction builders but it can always get fixed and hopefully in due time while we're still residents here.

Megan at the front desk is an absolute angel! To be fair everyone there is very cool and helpful but Megan will go above and beyond to help you. The maintenance staff was also very cool and made any and all repairs in a very timely manner. The interiors of the apartments are very cool and the amenities are great. Of all the apartments we checked out this one still has the best pool area hands down.

I dedicate this review to the maintenance team at Cortland Bull City on behalf of a current resident of the building. Glenn, Rodney and Isaiah are truly awesome humans. From a maintenance perspective, whenever I have a maintenance concern or question, it is fixed or answered practically within a blink of an eye. Cortland and the residents are truly lucky to have these gems. Besides helping with the apartment, they are genuinely nice people. I'm happy I've gotten to know them during my time living here. I don't know what I'd do without them.

Nothing but good things to say about this place. The front staff is all incredibly friendly. Megan is so timely and accommodating. Glenn is the friendliest person you'll ever meet! So thankful we decided to live here.

Cortland Bull City is super swanky. I love showing the community off to all of my friends. It’s also within walking distance to the Durham bulls stadium, which is definitely a perk! But let’s be honest, the reason I will be renewing is because of the service team. Glenn and Rodney are so quick to take care of any concerns I may have and they always greet me with a smile on their face. I can’t say enough about how they have exceeded my expectations since the day I moved in!

Glen and Rodney are so sweet to me. They go above and beyond to help with my apartment and they even gave my car a jump in the parking deck. I was running so late for my shift at the hospital and they totally saved the day! Way to go service team!

I recently moved to Cortland Bull City in August and I absolutely love it! The maintenance and leasing office staff are the best and have made me feel right at home since the day I moved in. They have been so welcoming and kind, and the complex itself is gorgeous. I would recommend this place to anybody moving to Durham!

Cortland Bull City has nailed it when it comes to amenities that residents actually love and use. The complex is perfect for those of us who use the gym, the pool and grilling area , for working residents there is a conference room and private work spaces. The Office staff is extremely courteous and goes out of their way to fully show the optional floor plans, answer all questions and address any concern that may arise. Response time for Maintenance and Repairs is exceptional! Glen and Rodney attend to each call with respect, expertise and in a timely manner. It is a large demanding complex, so glad that they just added Isaiah to their team, a very polite young man! They treat us like family! Within 24 hours the request for maintenance is submitted and the work is done. They are very attentive to the needs and requests of the residents and take complaints and concerns seriously.

I visit Cortland quite often and the complex is always very clean and the staff and maintenance personnel are friendly and courteous. The pool area is awesome and plenty of lounging for the residents and guest. Rodney is a bundle of joy and always willing to help and assist when ever there is a need. A great place to reside at.

My husband and I (and also our dog and cat) love living at Cortland Bull City! Megan, one of the leasing partners, was wonderful to work with and ensured a smooth transition by answering all of our questions with professionalism and efficiency. The property is lovely, including the urban landscaping, pool and pool deck, bark park, gym, and business/conference spaces. The property is also conveniently located in walking distance of downtown Durham restaurants, DPAC, and the Durham Bulls Stadium--including the fireworks presentations on select summer evenings. We are so glad we decided to move into Bull City.

I am writing this after having spent a year in this apartment complex and can not say enough good things. The apartment itself has amazing amenities, from a gorgeous pool, to a 24/7 gym(w/a squat rack!), multiple common areas to have people over, & dedicated study areas. The location is pretty great too—not too close to downtown that you have traffic noise, but also a 2min walk to American tobacco campus and 6 min walk into downtown Durham. Finally, the staff here have bar none been what has made my stay here special. From Megan and Joy, two leasing agents who helped me out a ton during my transition here, to Rodney and Glen, two of our superhuman maintenance guys who work tirelessly to always see that any issue in our apartment is taken care of(with the most amicable personalities), they make it very easy and comfortable to come home here everyday. Can’t say enough good things about the staff here and the property. You will not regret it & if it wasn’t for a new job offer elsewhere, I would extended my lease

I relocated from Florida and I had about 10 apartments to visit during my trip. I saw this place second and the tour was given to me by leasing agent, Joy Montemayor and she was extremely helpful and hospitable. She answered all of my questions and was able give me answers to questions that I didn't know I needed to be asking. She was straightforward and explained all the in and outs of the leasing process. I saw one place after Cortland Bull City and decided cross all other apartments off of my list because I knew none of them would come close. Now that I have lived there for two months I am very happy with my decision and Joy is still as helpful, if not more, as she was on day one!

Brand new apartments... great gym.. a gorgeous pool... 6 weeks free... and a staff that bends backwards to make you feel welcome. David, Joy, Rodney and team were really great. Keep up the good work everyone.

I visited the property recently & I really, really liked it. I am relocating to NC from Ohio. I spoke with a young woman named Danielle who was awesome!. She was very professional, courteous and I could tell she knew what she was talking about. Then there was Joy who showed me around the property and I was very impressed with everything I saw. Joy was excellent as well. These 2 gals know their property :-) That totally impressed me! I think I will definitely be making another stop to this location. So far it's the best one I have seen & by far the best customer service I've received.

What a beautiful community! Located right near the American Tobacco Campus and downtown, it couldn't be a better location to live at. Glenn and the service team keep the community immaculate and my experience with the office team has always been excellent. Definitely a great place to live!

I was lucky enough to see this property first hand this weekend and for the money, the finishes and location are some of the best in the Durham area. The floor plans are laid out so thoughtful and the staff...OMG Joy is amazing. If you are in the market for an apartment with flexible lease terms this is your place...great amenities and a great office staff!

I had a great tour with Joy at Cortland Bull City! She showed me all the amazing amenities and the apartments. She was very inviting and listened to everything I was looking for! My favorite part was the outside seating on the 3rd floor. I also enjoyed that every apartment had a coat rack built into the wall!! I had a great overall experience! Highly recommended! Ask for Joy!
