Cortland Appoints Chief Operating Officer for Europe

Build-to-rent developer Cortland has appointed Tracey Hartley as its chief operating officer for Europe.

Hartley has previously held senior positions at JLL, Howard de Walden Estate, as head of residential, and Grainger, as director of residential operations.

She has worked with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on its Private Rented Sector Taskforce, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to bring about the first industry-wide PRS code of practice, and the Institute of Residential Property Management to create Ofqual-regulated build-to-rent qualifications.

At Cortland, Hartley will play a key role in helping the company continue to grow its portfolio and further its ambitions to elevate the rental living experience across the UK.

Hartley said: “BTR plays an important role in increasing the availability of high-quality, energy-efficient and comfortable housing where the residents’ experience is central to how we operate.”

Victoria Quinlan, Cortland’s president for Europe, said: “Tracey’s deep sector experience across several different roles in the industry means that she is well placed to help us identify new opportunities and further our ambition to bring elevated living to the UK.”
