The layout of the apartment makes it feel so spacious and the kitchen is so cute but what really stands out to me is the way the management and front desk are so approachable and kind. My wife and I relocated to the DC area this summer, and Kenneth made a long-distance move far easier than it had any right to be. He walked us through multiple video tours so we could choose an apartment without being there in person. When there were mistakes on the sales side, he emailed the right people on our behalf and got them sorted out. What was a hectic and stressful move that had to happen in a hurry, his help made possible. What really stands out is that his help didn't stop once we signed the lease. We've been here two months, and he's still the person we know we can count on whenever an issue comes up. Just last week he helped us get a storage unit after none had been available for months. We love the apartment and the location, and especially how dog-friendly the community is. We've met so many great fellow dog owners here. I lived here for a short time and really enjoyed my apartment complex. I always bumped into one of the maintenance workers,Rosa, in the morning and she is so kind and helpful with any questions/concerns I have about the complex. HONEST REVIEW (from a currently disgruntled tenant) : - The front office is excellent (except for a random dude that works some Saturdays-not Cameron, he's great-that makes empty promises and never follows up) - The insides of the buildings almost always smell like dog piss - The apartment complex does NOT vet animals or screen them in any way and there are multiple aggressive/not well controlled dogs on the premises. - The pool and jacuzzi area is awesome except not always well kept with tons of bugs often floating in the ill-cleaned waters. - The elevator is broken 60-75% of the time, so living on the 3rd or 4th floor is a pain. - Parking is great and you can almost always find a spot. If you can't street parking is nearby. - They throw a lot of events and bring in food trucks which is a nice touch. - My wifi hasn't been working in over a month due to a coax that the apartment claimed wasn't their responsibility but after many attempts for clarification, they found out it was. That really sucks and still do

This is going to be a long review, but worth reading. First, I want to say that moving is hard. Moving to a completely new place comes with a lot of challenges, bumps, and unexpected situations. In my case, there were definitely moments when I felt overwhelmed and didn’t know how everything was going to work out. But in the end, Cortland made what felt like an impossible move possible. This was my first experience with Cortland. Before moving in, I saw the mixed reviews and understood that every apartment community will have its issues. I’m someone who is a problem solver. What stood out to me about Cortland was teamwork. From leasing to management and everyone involved behind the scenes, people worked with me, accommodated me, listened to me, and helped me through a very difficult transition. I honestly don’t believe my move would have been possible without the Cortland team. I had the most exceptional experience meeting Dessi and looking at the apartment complex. Everything was amazing, but the best was the service Dessi gave us as we walked and all the way to the end. I visited one of They’re Competitors, 30 minutes after meeting with her and the experience was horrendous. Nowhere near the excellent service that Desi provided. By far the best apartment complex that I have ever lived in that I will be extremely reluctant to leave. The front office people are all amazing (especially Austin) and proactive/helpful. The property is always super clean (and safe), and everything is well-maintained. This complex also has the best maintenance team of anywhere I've lived. They are all extremely kind, understanding, and efficient. I am especially fond of Gaspar, who treats all of us like we're an extension of his family. He has dropped everything to come help me during late night maintenance emergencies, and I couldn't be more grateful for him. I love it here!

I signed a one year lease but had to move out early due to relocation, the whole leasing team including Macey, Rama is really friendly and very helpful. Overall, I had a great time living in the property, which is newly renovated and is wonderfully located in the heart of pentagon city. Macey is a great manager and she really takes care of all the residents and very easy to work with. If I ever come back to DC, I will live here again.

I’ve been living here for about 9 months now, and overall, I’ve had a very good experience. It’s a great community with excellent amenities, including a swimming pool, gym, and Amazon lockers. The management team communicates well about community events, maintenance issues, reminders, and important alerts. The maintenance service is excellent and, most importantly, very prompt. My apartment’s AC unit broke down in the middle of a Texas summer, on a weekend. Since they needed to order a replacement part, the repair couldn’t be completed until Monday. However, instead of simply asking me to wait, they provided a temporary portable AC unit and even came out to install it. Things can break in any apartment, but I really appreciate how they handled the situation and provided a practical temporary solution instead of excuses.

This is a very nice building and is in a good location. But the staff is what really makes it great! Everyone in the office is very kind and responsive to whatever your needs may be. I worked a lot with Rama when I first moved in. She was so helpful on one of the most stressful days of my life. She answered every question before I even thought to ask it. Also, she takes the time to speak/greet me every time I see her, which is always appreciated! Malik in the office is also very helpful and helped address an issue quickly and without any delay!

Parking can be tricky if you come back late at night, but it's never been to the point where I had to park so far away that I didn't feel safe. I plan on living here until I buy a house one day. I cannot explain in words how great my move in experience was because of Tiffany, Patrick and Q. I could not make it in person and Tiffany did my virtual tour and it was great. She took her time to explain and show everything like I was there. Just her professional presence on the call set a standard for the other apartments that I still needed to see. No one came close to it. Fast forwarding, I happen to be in the area the day I planned to see all apartments and stopped in to see if I could see the apartment in person. They are hands down one of the friendliest and most genuine people I’ve met in any leasing office. Every time I see him, he greets me with a big smile, remembers what’s going on in my life, and makes me feel truly welcome here. From day one, Hailee and Que have been incredibly helpful and patient — whether it was answering all my questions, helping with paperwork, or just checking in to make sure my apartment and stay have been going well. Edit on 09/17/26: Internet has significantly improved and have little issues for several months. Some brief outages but the signal returns very quickly. Really not an issue anymore. However, the amount of frogs that have spawned in this community is out of control and makes it difficult to enjoy the walking areas and it is unsafe for dogs. Edit on 03/08/26: The internet service here is so bad. I just don’t understand. When it WORKS it’s fine..but many days there are hours of extremely low wifi speed. If I didnt have a phone plan with hotspot i’d be miserable here. Dissapointed that i’m stuck with this service now. Julia assisted my girlfriend and I with our move-in and we are very happy with the process and our new home. We had many questions throughout but were always answered in a reasonable amount of time and she was super nice throughout it all.

As a guest, I frequently workout with my friend who is a resident at Cortland. I wanted to take my time to leave this review and to specifically mention Gloria. This building and community are really something special and Gloria is a perfect representation of that. She is always friendly, motivating us during our workouts, and maintaining the building’s gym beautifully. Even when she has to close the gym down for cleaning, she is always kind and respectful about kicking us out ;) all in all, this is a great place to visit and I look forward to hopefully becoming a resident myself eventually!

I can’t say enough good things about Mizael, my maintenance guy! He truly went above and beyond to help me with my leaking toilet, and I really appreciate all of his hard work. I can’t say enough good things about Kenneth Shwe at Cortland Pentagon City. We visited several apartment communities in the area, and he was by far the most thorough and knowledgeable leasing agent we met. He covered everything during our tour—including things we hadn’t even thought to ask about—and never rushed us, even though our appointment was later in the day. His professionalism and attention to detail really set him apart. Our experience with Kenneth was absolutely five-star. Unfortunately, the concierges at both Pentagon City and South Eads gave us incorrect information when we were trying to arrange tours, which made things a bit confusing. Hopefully Cortland can improve this part of the experience, because the service we received from Kenneth was exceptional.

Has been a great place to live for a few years now, amenities are pretty great, and the handymen have been very responsive and helpful, particularly Phillip, who's gone the extra mile on several calls. The one major downside to report is the fire alarms a lot of people point out in their reviews. As far as I know, it's not exactly that the alarms trip for no reason, but I think it's a pipe burst issue and happens at least once or twice a year during winter. Not that it excuses it frankly, specially on the couple snowy winters we've had in recent years when I've had to stand outside in the freezing cold for very lengthy amounts of time.

Cortland Legacy is in such an amazing location! You’re nearby main service roads/highways, plus a coffee shop in walking distance. I did my tour with Sam, the assistant manager, and she was nothing short of wonderful!! She thoroughly listened to what I was looking for, in a short move in time frame. All around amazing!! Overall, for comfort of living, responsive staff/maintenance, and apartment design and feel, I give Cortland Legacy a solid A rating. Trash room is a little disorganized at times but that's more a resident practice than management. We greatly enjoyed our time living here and found the apartment sizeable, clean, and a perfect fit for our needs. The only word of caution I can offer, just as with an apartment lease, is to be fully aware of the contract language and any early termination fees. We unfortunately ended up having to break our lease three months early as we had an opportunity to buy a house. All in all, it cost us about $13,000 to fully get out of our lease (two months of rent, early termination fee, and then a bill after we moved out asking for "upfront concession" payback). When we moved in, we were given 6 weeks at a free/discounted rate, so when we early terminated, we got charged back that amount. While all of this IS in the contract, plan accordingly if you think you may need to leave this comm

I’ve been living here for a year now. I have no complaints. The property is clean, very secure and really quiet. The apartments are nice and spacious. It is so peaceful and safe compared to other complexes in the area. The maintenance staff is awesome. You put in a work request and they come same day and fix the problem quickly. They’re very professional. The office staff respond quickly and handle issues in the same day. The location is amazing. There’s everything very close.

Stayed here for about 1.5 years and had a great experience overall. The apartments are well-sized, and the rent is fair for this area. The location is excellent — quick access to both SRT and DNT, and all major stores and restaurants are within a 5–10 minute drive. (If you don’t drive, though, skip this one — not a single convenience store is walkable from here unless you consider a fitness challenge “convenience.”) The staff and maintenance crew are genuinely great — responsive, polite, and they actually fix things. The garage and exit doors work as advertised (occasional breakdowns, sure, but nothing outrageous), which says a lot if you’ve lived in other complexes where that’s basically folklore. Now for my arch-nemesis: AT&T reception. I moved units twice, performed every tech ritual short of sacrificing a router, and still — zero bars. Verizon and T-Mobile users, you’re safe. AT&T folks… may the odds be ever in your favor. Another mild frustration: the mandatory community internet plan. I had my own AT&T

I lived here for 3 years. I'm in a 2BR apartment. Good: - big spacious apartments - huge kitchen - bathrooms have 2 sinks and plenty of counter space - balcony available - big parking garage for residents - lots of visitor parking downstairs (not in garage) - service requests are taken care of very fast and efficiently. Bad: - I can hear my upstairs neighbors footsteps. I'm on the 3rd floor. They have a baby. I hear running sometimes and it's very loud and disruptive. I've had at least 3 different neighbors and 2 of them (both with babies) I could hear everything. I think it would be fine if they didn't have little kids running around. In addition to running, I could hear the babies cry too - sound insulation between the entrance door and hallway is bad. I can every conversation there. I put a door stopper there to help. - occasional fire alarms due to equipment - callbox doesn't always work

I have lived at the Cortland Legacy location since 2018. I really enjoy my community. The office and maintenance staff are really friendly and attend to issues quickly. I love my apartment layout and location. I miss all of our community activities they have been cancelled due to Covid 19. I will be glad when we can all come together again! 2023 Update: I am still a resident at Cortland Legacy Frisco and the current management staff is amazing. I always feel comfortable going to them with any problems or concerns because I know they will be addressed quickly. The outside grounds are very nice and there is a great sense of community here. The community activities have resumed and I have a great time coming together with the staff and neighbors!! 2024 Update: Living at Cortland has been a great experience. I've moved from a small one bedroom to one of the 1700 sq ft townhouses and I absolutely love it. Very well behaved neighbors and I feel like I was in a very secure place. When my husband is in office I will go pool or club house and chill with my baby. We also used a lot of potlucks in our community and neighbor gathering. Jimmy is awesome all the time. I’ve been living at Cortland Legacy for the past two years, and overall, it’s been a positive experience. The location is fantastic, with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The management team is very responsive; they always address maintenance requests promptly. For instance, when my air filter was dirty this summer, they had it fixed within an hour. I already referred friends to the Cortland Legacy apartment. Very nice place the staff are very friendly and quick to help or there if any problem! I’m going on 3 yrs of living here and I wouldn’t ask for anything to change the staff and maintenance are very nice and helpful with anything or any concerns!

The CORTLAND Legacy Apartments are great in every way. I recently signed a lease, and am looking forward to being a CORTLAND Legacy resident soon. Julio V is the Leasing Staff representative that I primarily worked with, and he is excellent…professional, knowledgeable, and truly kind. Julio, and the other Office Staff members I met were all very friendly, and welcoming. I highly recommend the Cortland Legacy Apartments.
