Cortland Hires Industry Veteran Lee Everett as Head of Research
ATLANTA, May 13, 2024 -- Cortland, a vertically integrated, multifamily real estate investment, development, and management company, announced today it has appointed Lee Everett Head of Research to lead Cortland’s research approach and inform investment decisions.
In this role, Lee will work closely with the Executive, Investments, and Capital Markets teams to formulate Cortland’s overall research strategy, including macroeconomic trends, residential supply/demand dynamics, and market selection, in addition to advising on individual investment and portfolio management decisions.
"It's crucial for Cortland to remain ahead of future trends affecting the broader economy and multifamily industry. I am thrilled to welcome Lee to lead this effort and further refine our approach to data-driven investment," said Jason Kern, Cortland’s President of Investment Management. "Given his significant experience evaluating the impact of macro and micro-economic factors on the real estate industry, we look forward to seeing the positive impact Lee will have on our business."
Most recently, Everett served as President of Research and Strategy for Waterton, where he led the formulation of in-house macro-economic and real estate positions, served as a key member of the fundraising team, and evaluated all potential acquisitions. Prior to that, Everett was Director of Market Planning for Benchmark Senior Living, where he led all market analysis functions and evaluated potential sites for development and/or disposition. With more than 15 years of experience, he also spent time at CoStar Portfolio Strategy, The Concord Group Real Estate Advisors, and Boston Financial Investment Management.
"I am thrilled to join the Cortland team and work closely with teams across the firm to leverage thoughtful economic insights and analysis to further refine Cortland’s industry-leading investment strategy," Everett said. "By leveraging cutting-edge data aggregation and innovative proprietary algorithms to analyze data, predict outcomes and make informed decisions, Cortland is poised for continued growth this year and beyond."
